Thanks to our U11 and U13 players for attending the team selection day on Sunday 19th.

We had approx 30 players in our U11 group and 60 players in our U13 group. That’s a great turnout and our selectors have a tough job ahead to place players into teams.

Here are some important comments from the day:
- we used a software program called Netball trials to generate each round of game play. This is the first time using this software as previously we have used spreadsheets and moved players manually which was very time consuming.
- the software generates rounds based on players first playing position preference and players are placed in this position at least once.
- the software does track how many times a player is on court however we found it was not always accurate. Unfortunately some players had more court time than others.
- thanks to those players who spoke to use to let us know you had only been on court twice – we did then get you onto court in the next round
- selectors are making notes each round and looking at all players
- selectors asked to see some players play against certain players in order to gain more information
- players trying out for both age groups were managed so not to play too much – lots of notes were taken on these players in their first trial. Reminder no guarantee on playing up as will depend on numbers in each age group.
- selectors will be attending games at Altona in the coming weeks to get more information if needed and to also observe those players who could not attend
- selection day is not the only information used – we also seek feedback from coaches on each player
- selection is not an exact science as many factors are taken into account such as playing positions, age of players and team numbers. A lot of thought and discussion goes into the process – selectors spend many hours going through all this information.

The registration link for Summer 2026 will be communicated later in the week. You must register to play in order to be selected in a team. More information will be provided with the link.

Without the help and support of parents the Club can not function – so thank you!
