Welcome to Summer 26 - ANA rules, Score sheets and Code of Conduct

31 Jan by Willi Tigers Netball Club (Team App)

Welcome Willi Tigers families

Hope you had a great break over summer and are ready for netball!

First week back, we have a few reminders to all our Willi Tigers families about the following:

ANA rules

On court ready to play
Teams must be on court and ready to play at least 10 seconds before the start of each quarter. This doesn't allow much time at 1/4 and 3/4 break. If teams take position on court after the siren to start play - teams will be penalised - if your centre it will be given to other team and if not your centre the ball is advanced to centre/goal third line. If just a couple of players then those players need to wait before coming on court.

Coach behaviour on game day
Coaches of 9&U and 11&U teams ARE allowed to walk up and down the side lines giving instructions (coaching) to their players except for finals where they must be in the designated coaching area. These coaches must keep out of the path of the umpires but are free to use the side lines.

Coaches of 13&U/15&U and 17&U must remain within the designated coaching area at both side of the score bench. These coaches are allowed to stand to coach or they can be seated – they MUST NOT walk the side lines but of course must remain out of the way of the umpires.

If a team has two coaches, only ONE coach is allowed to coach at anyone time, this includes giving instructions during the game from the sidelines. No coaching from another parent or spectator is allowed. Of course encouragement and cheering is always welcome.

Scoresheets
A competent scorer must be supplied for all games. The scorer must remain impartial and NOT coach from the score bench or yell out instructions. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE check all scoresheets during the game and at the end - ensure scorers agree. DO NOT SIGN the scoresheet until you agree the result is recorded correctly. Scoresheet will always override what is shown on the electronic scoreboard. Often teams lose points due to an admin error – ANA will not budge on this error. If in doubt, ask a Supervisor (purple vest courtside) or ask in the Netball room. You can take the scoresheet into the netball office if it cant be resolved courtside. DO NOT SIGNuntil you agree with scoresheet. Scoresheets CAN'T be changed once handed over to the netball office (at the end of the Saturday/Tuesday/Thursday) and too hard to dispute afterwards.

Borrowed/Fill in Players
Refer to the news post - Fill In and Borrowed Players - Info Update - has all the info you need.

Being a member of Willi Tigers means you need to abide by our Code of Conduct as follows:

PLAYERS CODE OF CONDUCT
Play for the fun of the game and not to please parents and coaches.
Play by the rules, always.
Never argue with an umpire or official. If you disagree, have your captain or coach approach the official during a break or after the game.
Control your temper – verbal altercations, deliberately fouling or provoking an opponent and/or throwing equipment is unsportsmanlike and not permitted in sport.
Work equally as hard for yourself as for your team. Your team’s performance will benefit, as will yours.
Be a good sport. Cheer all good players and plays, whether your team or an opponent’s.
Treat all players as you would like to be treated.
Co-operate with your coach, team mates and opponent’s.
Show manners and respect to everyone involved in the game.

OFFICIALS CODE OF CONDUCT
Modify rules and regulations to suit the skills of the children and their needs.
Compliment both teams on their effort.
Be consistent, courteous and objective when dealing with all infractions.
Condemn deliberate fouls and unsportsmanlike behaviour and promote fair play and appropriate sports behaviour.
Actions speak louder than words – ensure that both on and off the court your behaviour is consistent with good sportsmanship.
Encourage participations for fun and enjoyment.
Focus on a child / team’s efforts and developments, not on the outcome of the game.

PARENTS CODE OF CONDUCT

Focus on your child’s efforts and development, not on the outcome of the game.
Teach children that an honest effort is as important as a victory.
Encourage children to always play according to the rules of the game.
Applaud the efforts and good plays for both teams.
Never approach an umpire or opponent’s team with a disagreement. If you feel you must raise your concerns it must be done with your child’s coach or a Willi Tigers officials.
Any concerns with a Willi Tigers official should be raised through appropriate channels to ensure a cohesive relationship within all teams.
Sportsmanlike behaviour is second only to having FUN!

SPECTATOR"S CODE OF CONDUCT
Children play organised sports for fun and they are not mini professionals.
